The BMW Art Cars Goodwood Revival will dazzle audiences this September as five iconic models take the spotlight at the Earls Court Motor Show. Running from 12–14 September 2025, the exhibition forms part of the BMW Art Car World Tour, celebrating 50 years of artistic collaboration between BMW and global visionaries.
Since 1975, BMW has turned its cars into rolling works of art. The project began with Alexander Calder and later featured contributions from Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Jeff Koons, and David Hockney. Each creation demonstrates how performance engineering and modern art can blend into something timeless.
Featured Art Cars
Five standout models will appear at Goodwood Revival:
- 1976 – Frank Stella’s BMW 3.0 CSL
Stella covered the car in precise black-and-white lines, making the body resemble an engineering blueprint. The design celebrates both mechanics and motion. - 1977 – Roy Lichtenstein’s BMW 320i Turbo
Lichtenstein used bold “Ben Day dots” and radiant colors. His vision transformed the racer into a canvas bursting with speed and energy. - 1982 – Ernst Fuchs’ BMW 635 CSi
Fuchs painted a surreal image of a hare leaping through flames. The dreamlike vision added a fantastical touch to the Art Car legacy.
Cultural Significance
These rolling sculptures highlight BMW’s long-standing commitment to creativity. They remind audiences that cars are not only machines but also cultural symbols. Moreover, they showcase how art can inspire fresh perspectives on design and engineering.
Goodwood Revival itself recreates the golden age of motorsport. The event celebrates racing between the 1940s and 1960s with period clothing, authentic cars, and immersive experiences. Adding BMW Art Cars brings a new layer of cultural storytelling to the festival.
A Global Celebration
The Goodwood showcase is also part of the worldwide BMW Art Car Tour. The exhibition travels across continents, introducing these masterpieces to new audiences. As a result, the collection continues to bridge art, design, and racing history.
BMW views these creations as more than promotional displays. They reflect a philosophy that cars can serve as canvases for imagination. In addition, they highlight how innovation and culture work together to inspire future generations.
The 2025 Goodwood Revival promises to celebrate this vision in style. With five Art Cars on display, the event will connect motorsport heritage with modern creativity, ensuring the legacy of the collection lives on.
