How IAMaga is Transforming Africa’s Automotive and EV Landscape
The Africa Mobility Summit, hosted by IAMaga, took place at the Emara Hotel – Ole Sereni in Nairobi on September 15–16, 2025. The event highlighted Africa’s potential in automotive innovation and partnerships. Over the course of two days, top manufacturers, suppliers, and industry leaders explored opportunities for growth and advanced mobility solutions across the continent.
Martin Hendriksen, CEO of IAMaga, called the summit a landmark for Africa’s automotive sector. “The Africa mobility summit in Nairobi gives over 100 delegates a platform to connect, share insights, and drive growth across the continent’s automotive aftermarket,” he said.
Industry Leaders Highlight Africa’s Potential
Michael Steck, Regional Sales Director for the Middle East and Africa at Bilstein Group, praised the summit’s impact. “The summit exceeded our expectations. Working closely with IAMaga members helps us understand regional needs and expand our business in Africa,” he explained.
Farid Sihocine, Sales & Marketing Director at KYB Middle East & Africa, emphasized the need for solutions tailored to Africa’s diverse roads. “Customer needs vary across the continent. That’s why KYB combines global technology with local insight. Products like Excel-G HD and SK4 ensure safer and smoother rides,” he said.
Samir El Bazi of Nissen Middle East & Africa also noted Africa’s growing market. Africa offers untapped potential. With more vehicles and rising demand for quality parts, Nissen invests strategically to expand its network,” he added.
Moving Towards Greener Mobility
Sustainability was a key topic at the summit. As Africa slowly shifts toward greener mobility, Nissen is expanding its EV product range. Additionally, the company focuses on eco-friendly logistics, better packaging, and reducing waste. “Transitioning to sustainable mobility requires action. Efficiency matters,” El Bazi explained.
Preparing for Electrification
The Bilstein Group is also ready for Africa’s mobility changes. Steck noted, “We developed over 9,300 spare parts for 700+ electric and hybrid models. This prepares us and IAMaga’s network for the continent’s future demands.”
KYB is contributing its global experience in EV and hybrid suspension systems. Sihocine stated, “We aim to ensure every vehicle, from ICE to EV, performs well on Africa’s roads. Our global knowledge helps us adapt to local conditions.”
