Ford has provided a clearer indication of pricing for its upcoming Fathom electric pickup, saying the range will extend from a $28,350 entry model into the high $30,000s.

Andrew Frick, president of Ford Blue and Model e, outlined the expected spread during the company’s third-quarter earnings call. He said Ford would offer several choices within that range, although individual trim prices and equipment lists remain undisclosed.

The comments suggest higher-specification versions will target prices below $40,000. However, they do not confirm that every configuration, including optional equipment and additional charges, will stay under that threshold. inkl.com

Ford Fathom price: What buyers know so far

Ford previously announced the Fathom name and its $28,350 starting price in August. The latest comments offer guidance on how far the range could extend.

Frick’s reference to multiple offerings does not establish a specific number of trims. Ford has also yet to explain which features will distinguish the entry model from more expensive versions.

Digital services could add recurring costs

The purchase price will be only part of the Fathom’s commercial strategy.

Ford chief executive Jim Farley highlighted digital services as an opportunity to generate revenue beyond the initial vehicle sale. He said buyers choosing better-equipped versions place particular importance on the digital experience.

Built-in Apple Maps was among the features he discussed. However, his comments did not establish that Apple Maps itself would require a subscription.

Ford has not published a Fathom subscription schedule or identified which functions will be included permanently, offered through trials or sold separately. Buyers will need those details to assess the truck’s longer-term ownership costs.

A high-$30,000s price is not a confirmed maximum

The distinction between a trim’s starting price and a fully configured vehicle’s final cost remains important.

Ford’s guidance indicates the intended positioning of the range. It does not yet provide a complete price list showing optional packages, delivery charges or other costs.

Similarly, the announced $28,350 entry price does not reveal the full specification buyers will receive. Battery options, equipment packages and differences between versions will be important when Ford releases more detailed ordering information.

Fathom launch planned for late 2027

Pre-orders are expected to open in early 2027, with initial deliveries planned later that year.

Ford’s own third-quarter update identifies the fourth quarter of 2027 as the planned launch period and says the company is preparing its Louisville Assembly Plant for the Fathom. fromtheroad.ford.com

The pickup is intended to be the first model built on Ford’s Universal EV Platform, making it an important test of the company’s effort to produce more affordable electric vehicles.

For prospective buyers, the next major announcement will be the detailed trim breakdown: what the base truck includes, what higher prices buy and which digital features carry recurring fees.
