Rimac Technology, known for supplying cutting-edge batteries to major automakers like Porsche and BMW, is partnering with Taiwan’s Prologium Technology to develop advanced solid-state batteries. These batteries are expected to revolutionize the electric vehicle (EV) industry with longer ranges and faster charging times.

Solid-State Batteries for Future EVs

Rimac’s collaboration with Prologium aims to co-develop solid-state batteries, which are believed to offer significant advantages over traditional lithium-ion batteries. These new batteries will provide a range of 500 to 600 kilometers per charge, addressing a key concern for EV owners. Additionally, they will feature ultra-fast charging capabilities, with the ability to charge from 10% to 80% in under 10 minutes.

Battery Factory in France

Prologium Technology is also investing in a new battery factory in France, set to open in 2028. This facility will play a crucial role in scaling up the production of these next-generation batteries. Rimac’s expertise in battery integration will be pivotal to ensuring the success of the project, particularly as the demand for high-performance EVs continues to grow globally.

A Game-Changer for the EV Market

The shift to solid-state batteries is considered a potential game-changer for the EV market. With a significantly improved energy density, these batteries are expected to extend the range of electric vehicles while reducing charging times, which are often cited as drawbacks to EV adoption. As Rimac and Prologium push toward small-scale production by 2030, the partnership signals a new era of innovation in EV technology.

Rimac’s work on solid-state batteries promises to reshape the EV market, offering faster, longer-lasting power solutions for consumers. If successful, this could significantly enhance the driving experience and help accelerate the global transition to electric mobility.
