Nissan Z NISMO manual option confirmed

The long-awaited Nissan Z NISMO manual is almost here. Nissan will add a six-speed to the hottest Z, ending the auto-only stretch. The update came from Nissan Americas chairman Christian Meunier during a recent podcast.

Enthusiasts asked for a stick from day one. Lower Z trims already offer a manual. The NISMO did not, despite its track focus. Now Nissan is changing course.

Power remains stout. The twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 makes 420 hp and 384 lb-ft. That is 20 hp and 34 lb-ft over a standard Z. In testing, the NISMO hit 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. It was four-tenths quicker than an automatic Z Performance. Meanwhile, the six-speed Z Performance needed 4.5 seconds to 60 mph.

Chassis hardware matches the numbers. The NISMO sports a limited-slip differential, a stiffer suspension, and beefier brakes. Bodywork is more aggressive, with red accents that signal intent. The result is sharper response and stronger fade resistance. With a manual, the package gains another layer of control.

Expect Nissan to reuse the six-speed from the non-NISMO Z. Even so, ratios may change. Shorter gearing would suit the extra shove. It would also amplify the car’s urgent character. Rev-matching and a robust clutch are likely.

Timing is still a mystery. Nissan has not shared a launch window. A 2026 debut is possible. A 2027 arrival seems just as plausible. Either way, the Nissan Z NISMO manual keeps driver engagement front and center.

This move matters. Manuals are rare today. Yet the Z shows there is still demand. A precise shifter, a broad torque band, and real mechanical feel can win hearts. Add proven NISMO tuning, and the formula looks right.

The takeaway is simple. The Nissan Z NISMO manual blends track-ready hardware with a purist interface. It should be quicker on the right road, and richer to drive everywhere. When orders open, three pedals will be the headline.
