Mercedes-Benz has begun pre-sales of the all-new Mercedes CLA Long-Wheelbase EV in China. The electric sedan is available in two trims. The CLA 300 L Ultra-Long Range Edition costs 259,000 yuan ($36,000). The CLA 300 L Ultra-Long Range Intelligent Edition is priced at 299,000 yuan ($41,600).
Unveiled at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, the model differs from the standard CLA with an extended wheelbase. The new version adds 40mm for more cabin space. Built on an 800V platform, it offers both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options. Moreover, it uses a two-speed transmission, delivering energy consumption of 10.9 kWh per 100 km. As a result, the car achieves a maximum CLTC range of 866 km.
The exterior design follows the familiar CLA look. The bold front grille carries illuminated Mercedes logos, including the central star. In addition, star-shaped LED daytime running lights define the front and rear clusters.
In terms of size, the car measures 4,763 mm long, 1,856 mm wide, and 1,469 mm high. Its 2,830 mm wheelbase is 40mm longer than the global version. The increase makes the China-built CLA more spacious than its overseas counterpart.
Inside, the CLA showcases a triple-screen setup. It combines a 10.25-inch instrument display, a 14.6-inch infotainment screen, and an optional 14-inch passenger screen. Furthermore, the system runs Mercedes-Benz’s latest MB.OS operating system. It supports AI voice assistance, 5G connectivity, and gesture controls for interactive features. Much of the intelligent driving and infotainment software was developed by Mercedes-Benz’s China R&D team, showing its local focus.
Performance varies between trims. The rear-wheel-drive version delivers 268 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 96 km/h in 6.6 seconds. The all-wheel-drive model boosts output to 349 horsepower and cuts acceleration to 4.8 seconds. Both versions use an 85 kWh ternary lithium battery. Therefore, the long-wheelbase CLA can reach 866 km on the CLTC cycle. The 800V system also supports ultra-fast charging at up to 325 kW. A 10-minute charge adds about 325 km of range.
For safety and convenience, the EV includes L2++ full-scenario intelligent driving assistance. It runs on MB.OS and uses solutions from Chinese startup Momenta. This cooperation blends Mercedes-Benz engineering with China’s fast-growing tech ecosystem.
The Mercedes CLA Long-Wheelbase EV reflects how global automakers adapt to China’s competitive electric market. With strong range, advanced cabin technology, and local innovation, the model is positioned to strengthen Mercedes-Benz’s footprint in the world’s largest EV market.
