The 2026 Toyota GR Corolla remains one of the most exciting hot hatches on the market, and this year’s model comes with a list of thoughtful updates. Toyota has added performance-focused improvements and premium interior features without straying from the winning formula that enthusiasts already love.
To improve rigidity, Toyota added nearly 46 feet of structural adhesive across the front and rear of the compact hatchback. This not only strengthens the frame but also enhances rear grip. To manage heat from the heavily boosted 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, the GR Corolla gains an additional air intake. The output stays the same—300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque—but performance is still thrilling. Power is sent to Toyota’s advanced all-wheel-drive system through either a six-speed manual or an optional eight-speed automatic transmission.
The Premium Plus trim receives a number of new amenities. The JBL sound system now features nine speakers instead of eight, while Active Sound Control pipes simulated engine noise into the cabin, a feature drivers will either love or loathe. Standard equipment includes a carbon-fiber roof, head-up display, heated seats and steering wheel, and new red contrast stitching that replaces the previous grey detailing.
Pricing has increased slightly, but the upgrades help justify the changes. The 2026 Toyota GR Corolla starts at $41,195, up $840 from last year. The Premium Plus model begins at $47,160, only $150 more than before. Adding the automatic transmission costs an extra $2000 on either trim.
Toyota expects the new GR Corolla to reach dealerships this fall, giving enthusiasts a chance to enjoy the improvements very soon. With its combination of structural upgrades, enhanced cooling, and improved cabin features, the 2026 Toyota GR Corolla shows why this car continues to hold a top spot among performance-focused compact hatches.
